QUETZALTENANGO – With an investment exceeding Q5.2 million, Paulinos Shopping Park has officially inaugurated the Paulinos Bridge, a private infrastructure project designed to transform mobility and connectivity in one of the city's fastest-growing sectors.
The project, completed over a five-month period, aims to alleviate traffic congestion and facilitate access for both shopping center visitors and residents of surrounding communities, particularly Colonia La Floresta.
Infrastructure for Local Development
During the inaugural ceremony, attended by municipal authorities and private sector representatives, Eng. Javier de Paz, Administrator of the shopping park, emphasized that the project was born from the need to provide a more comfortable and secure experience for the thousands of people who travel through the area weekly.
For his part, Municipal Mayor Juan Fernando highlighted the importance of such projects:
"It is essential that private initiatives contribute to infrastructure development that benefits both commerce and the community at large."
Operational Details and Restrictions
To ensure pedestrian safety and the durability of the structure, the administration has established the following usage guidelines:
- Operating Hours: The bridge will be open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Weight Restrictions: Only light vehicles are permitted. Public transportation and heavy vehicles are strictly prohibited from using the bridge.
Community Impact
The inauguration included formal acts such as a blessing by Father William and the traditional ribbon-cutting ceremony. With this opening, a more organized and efficient traffic flow is expected, strengthening urban connectivity in Quetzaltenango and reaffirming the private sector's commitment to the well-being of local residents.
