SALCAJÁ, GUATEMALA – With the aim of preserving historical memory and paying tribute to civic resilience, the Municipality of Salcajá has commissioned the creation of the pictorial work "El Silencio en Toque de Queda 2020" (The Silence of the 2020 Curfew). This project, led by the administration of Lic. William Calderón, seeks to transform public space into a visual testimony of the social impact experienced during the global pandemic.
The execution of the work is led by the renowned master Sergio Alvarado, an artist originally from Salcajá, whose career guarantees a piece of high technical and emotional value for the municipality's cultural heritage.
A Legacy of Art and Technique
The mural stands out not only for its historical narrative but also for the complexity of its artistic proposal, which is a hallmark of the artist's style. The work is defined by the following technical specifications:
- Dimensions: A surface measuring 4.50 meters width / 6.35 meters length, designed to integrate into the urban environment as a visual landmark.
- Mixed Media: Master Alvarado utilizes a combination of charcoal, acrylics, and oils, allowing for a richness of textures and contrasts that reinforce the solemnity of the theme.
- Creative Process: The execution period is estimated at one month, during which the artist will capture the transition from silence to hope.
