QUETZALTENANGO – In a strategic move to bolster financial inclusion in the country's Western region, BAC has officially presented its new comprehensive solution: Mi Remesa BAC. This launch marks a new milestone in managing foreign funds, allowing thousands of Guatemalan families to receive their money securely, immediately, and digitally.
Connectivity and Coverage: From the U.S. to the User's Hands
The new proposal is backed by a robust network of over 55,000 Ria Money Transfer points across the United States. Beneficiaries in Guatemala now have the power to receive funds directly into a BAC digital account, eliminating wait times and complications.
For those who prefer cash, the institution guarantees full coverage through its more than 90 branches and a network of over 1,500 Rapibac agents, strategically located in pharmacies, supermarkets, and shops nationwide.
Launch Incentives and Promotions
To encourage the use of digital tools, BAC announced exclusive promotions for this introductory period:
- Q100 Bonus: Users receiving a remittance of Q3,000 or more directly into their digital account between February 25 and March 31 will obtain this additional benefit.
- BAC Points: From February 25 to May 31, those who make accumulated purchases of Q300 with the debit card associated with their Mi Remesa BAC account (during the first 30 days of use) will receive a 1,500-point bonus, equivalent to Q100.
Economic Impact on Guatemalan Families
The event, held in the city of Quetzaltenango, highlighted the importance of remittances as an economic engine. Nationally, these inflows represent approximately 20% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), with exponential growth of 240% over the last decade.
Key data presented:
- 81% of beneficiaries receive funds at least once a month.
- The average reception is US$363, primarily destined for health, education, and food.
- The Digitalization Challenge: Although 96% of recipients hold a banking product, 73% do not use online banking and 64% do not save formally.
"At BAC, we want to be present in that key moment for thousands of Guatemalan households, not only by facilitating the reception of money but by supporting its management with secure, simple, and innovative solutions," stated Juan Maldonado, Vice President of Institutional Relations and Corporate Governance at BAC Guatemala.
Toward Responsible Money Management
Mi Remesa BAC is more than just a reception channel; it is a financial ecosystem. Users can view real-time notifications via Mobile Banking, make payments and transfers, and access exclusive benefits such as monthly raffles and discounts through the Mi Mundo BAC program.
With this initiative, BAC reaffirms its commitment to Guatemala's sustainable development and its purpose to "Reimagine banking to generate prosperity," positioning itself as the bridge toward economic modernization in the Western region.
