Utz Ulew Tower: The legacy behind the tower that transformed Quetzaltenango's skyline
QUETZALTENANGO, GUATEMALA – What began in 2013 as a series of mysterious excavations in Zone 3 has consolidated today as the epicenter of vertical development in Xela. The Utz Ulew Tower, standing at nearly 57 meters tall, not only redefines the urban landscape but also tells a story of business vision and local roots.
From its origins, the project generated great anticipation under tentative names such as "Paseo La Democracia." However, its definitive identity emerged as a tribute to the region: Utz Ulew, which in K’iche’ means "Good Earth." This project represents a strategic investment on a plot of nearly 7,000 square meters.
Aesthetically designed by the prestigious firm Seis Arquitectos with purely Quetzaltecan structural engineering, the complex features:
- Capacity: 12 levels, 708 parking spaces, and over 90 kiosks.
- Mixed-Use: A 6-level hotel (although the hotel is not yet completed and the space is currently partially occupied by offices), commercial areas, and corporate offices.
- Expansion: The current launch of the Utz Tower opens exclusive spaces for professionals on the fifth level and a dedicated healthcare area on the fourth level.
Utz Ulew Mall and its tower stand today as the tallest building in the city, symbolizing the modernity and economic drive of the "City of the Star."
