Quetzaltenango, April 24, 2025 - Official handover of funds from the Gastronomy and Art Festival
The Rotary Club Los Altos of Quetzaltenango, Habitat for Humanity Guatemala, and La Villa, La Quebrada are pleased to announce the official handover of funds raised during the second edition of the Gastronomy and Art Festival, held on December 8, 2024, at the La Quebrada facilities in Quetzaltenango.
This festival was a solidarity initiative that merged art, gastronomy, and social commitment with the aim of transforming lives in our community.
Thanks to the valuable support of attendees, sponsors, and committed companies, a total of Q140,909.00 was raised. This amount will be allocated to the construction of two decent homes – one type 5 with a slab and its healthy home kit, and another hybrid with its healthy home kit – managed by Habitat for Humanity Guatemala for the benefit of a low-income family.
Q62,088.05 was also donated to the Dr. Armando Sánchez Montes School, the El Progreso School, and the Los Melecio School through the John Diehl Scholarship Program, directly contributing to the education of vulnerable children and youth.
The festival had outstanding community participation:
• 10 restaurants offered a varied selection of pizzas,
• 40 artists donated their works for exhibition and sale,
• 41 companies collaborated with prizes for a grand raffle,
• More than 200 people attended the event, demonstrating that solidarity and art can unite to generate a real and lasting impact.
The official sponsors of the festival were: Cervecería Centroamericana, Megaproductos, Cosami R.L., and El Zepellin.
