Diego Campos from Liga Deportiva Alajuelense to Comunicaciones? It appears Liga Deportiva Alajuelense is planning to sell one of its star players. We're talking about left winger Diego Campos, who is currently valued at €700,000 euros.
Apparently, Liga Deportiva Alajuelense has offered the left winger's transfer to the Guatemalan club Comunicaciones. However, the player's high price could be an obstacle, as the "crema" team (Comunicaciones) is undergoing a sports and financial restructuring, which could limit their resources to acquire this player.
Campos belonged to the Clemson Tigers before being acquired by Chicago in the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. In that same year, he was loaned to Indy Eleven of the USL and returned to Chicago that same season. In 2020, he became a free agent and went to the Jerv club in Norway.
In 2022, he moved to the Degerfors club in Sweden, where he achieved his highest valuation to date of €900,000 euros. In 2024, he joined Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, where he currently has a contract with the Costa Rican club. Campos debuted with the Costa Rica national team in 2023 and has accumulated three matches with "La Sele" and one goal scored so far.
As a left winger, he has played 110 matches, scored 30 goals, and provided 13 assists. As an attacking midfielder, he has played 49 matches, scored 11 goals, and provided eight assists. As a right-back, he has played 14 matches and scored one goal.
As a center forward, he has played 12 matches, scored two goals, and provided one assist. As a right winger, he has played nine matches, scored four goals, and provided one assist. As a left interior midfielder, he has played four matches, scored three goals, and provided two assists.
With Liga Deportiva Alajuelense, he has played 82 matches, scored 22 goals, and provided 4 assists. With the Swedish club Degerfors, he has played 61 matches, scored 13 goals, and provided 12 assists. With the Norwegian club Jerv, he has played 50 matches, scored 16 goals, and provided 9 assists. With the Chicago club, he played 38 matches, scored two goals, and provided one assist.
Media reports speculate that Liga Deportiva Alajuelense is asking for a value close to €700,000 euros, which is the value of Diego Campos's transfer fee or rights, from Comunicaciones. However, the "albo" club (Comunicaciones) has reportedly not accepted the offer and is also eyeing two other players from Liga Deportiva Alajuelense.
It is mentioned that Diego Campos's contract is set to expire at the end of 2025. This is why Liga Deportiva Alajuelense is working on a plan to sell this player and generate revenue without losing what they have invested in him.
